Common Issues

Solutions for common macOS installation problems

"App is damaged and can't be opened"

This error occurs because the app is not signed with an Apple Developer certificate. To fix it:

xattr -cr /Applications/Traceless.app

"Cannot be opened because the developer cannot be verified"

macOS Gatekeeper is blocking the app. You can allow it by:

  1. Open System Preferences → Security & Privacy
  2. Click Open Anyway button next to the blocked app message
  3. Or right-click the app and select Open

Disable Gatekeeper Temporarily

If above methods don't work, you can temporarily disable Gatekeeper:

sudo spctl --master-disable

⚠️ Remember to re-enable after installation: sudo spctl --master-enable

Full Disk Access (Optional)

For complete functionality, grant Full Disk Access:

  1. Open System Preferences → Security & Privacy → Privacy
  2. Select Full Disk Access from the left sidebar
  3. Click the lock icon and add Traceless to the list
